Contemporary Kitchen Design in Spinneycroft, Oxshott
German handle-less using fronts with Ceramic Cladding and iron anthracite and titanium anodised edging as well as Residur in Titanio Matt, with Miele, Novy and Kuppersbusch Appliances and Quooker Hot Tap.
This lovely house in affluent Oxshott needed a kitchen to make a statement. The couple liked to entertain with large gatherings and the lady of the household was a serious cook. Space was slightly limited and the brief was that the kitchen space should not intrude into the living area adjacent. We designed an impactful kitchen using materials with interesting texture and reflectivity. Ceramic cladding technology was used for some of the doors and a grey residue finish was applied to others to produce a wonderful juxtaposition of different sheens. The interest in the feel of the ceramic being complimented beautifully by the silky smoothness and depth of the residur. We added a titanium edging to the doors for an elegant piece of detailing.
This was a truly contemporary kitchen using interesting materials, but we gave it an extra wow factor by having a slab of wany-edged European oak made into a breakfast bar. Beautifully fabricated and finished by a west country craftsman of distinction, a former tutor of our design director when studying under the celebrated furniture maker John Makepeace at Parnham.
Appliances had to be of a high quality and robust enough to handle serious cooking duties. The hob was a Novy modular downdraft with a teppanyaki plate. Fridge and freezer supplied by Kuppersbusch and then a full size steam oven, combi microwave, coffee machine, wine cooler and dishwasher all by Miele. Sinks and taps were supplied by Blanco and Quooker.
We were most proud when this kitchen won a shortlisting at the 2022 International Design and Architecture Awards in London in the 50k and above category.
