German Lacquered Grey Handle-less with Glass and Quartz in Walton on Thames
We enjoyed working with this client at a property almost next door to our showroom in Walton on Thames. The challenge in this kitchen was to create a well-functioning installation, with all of the specified appliances in a relatively small space. Their existing kitchen had an oddly designed cooker unit placed at 45 degrees to a corner in a unit sitting on top of the worktop height, a phenomenal waste of the space, already at a premium in this kitchen area. We removed the offending unit and designed a kitchen to fully use the corner, thus providing them with a much more efficiently designed kitchen.
We also fitted underfloor heating and a new floor in luxury vinyl tile, from Amtico. Our electricians re-configured the ceiling lighting and we included under-cabinet LED’s in our design. This was a great quality German product made to the highest standards and offered incredible value, coming in at a total less than 25k including installation and all the 1st fix remodelling that was necessary before fitting, and also redecoration of the entire room afterwards.
They chose a beautiful big range cooker by Smeg and kept their existing Samsung free-standing fridge/freezer. Sinks and taps by Blanco were complemented by a subtle but elegant quartz worktop with just a hint of veining. We housed the microwave in a cupboard by the entrance from the hallway, using the space to create the maximum food prep expanse of worktop that we could. Their boiler was housed in a purpose-built unit by the back door with the matching fronts to the base units and the rest of the wall units.
The kitchen cabinet fronts were in a matt lacquered mid-grey door from KH System Mobel of Germany. The lacquered door offered a sensuous silky finish with the robustness and longevity that you would expect of an excellent German kitchen product. We introduced a glass splashback which we felt lent a modern touch to the kitchen and the reflectivity and semi-opacity help to expand the feeling of space in an environment where this attribute is in short supply. It also communicated between the warm tone of the cabinetry and the freshness of the worktops. The client was really torn between several different worktop options. We helped the process of choosing by taking the client along to one of our suppliers main warehouses where the client to see a full slab for themselves. The choice was made instantly. As soon as they saw a full-sized slab they could envisage the finish and pattern in their kitchen that much more easily and the decision was made, it was our pleasure to be of service.
